Color is a form of non-verbal communication. It is communicated to the brain more quickly than words or shapes and it works directly on our feelings and emotions.. What different colors mean can change from day to day with every person. For me, green makes me think of springtime with new leaves and grass growing – it brings me happiness. To another person, green may remind them of money and their lack of it, or their abundance of it – this can make them grateful for plenty or fearful of lack.
Colors have the ability to affect moods, purchasing, and attract attention. Have you ever noticed that most fast food restaurants use red and yellow, whether together or on their own? It’s because the color red triggers stimulation and appetite, and it grabs your attention. Yellow generally brings feelings of happiness. So, put the two together and whammo! They’ve now got you pulling into their parking lot and ordering their food.
So, when I talk about color meanings, I’ll pull from a few different sources. I will mention a few biblical color references, as well as psychology behind colors. What I say about a color may not be the same thing you feel about it, so definitely let it be what it is to you. The graphic below is only a starting point for what these colors represent. There really isn’t much in the bible that states actual meanings of colors; however, there are several references to very specific colors, and they definitely have things that they represent, which tells us that color is important even to God. I encourage you to do your own research and studying to gain your own revelation!
